There have been topics about taking a camera for the unknown times when all of a sudden, walla a never before seen Mav or Comet. I just laughed when you people talked about it as in 8-9 yrs have I never bumped into a unknown car in my area. Well it happened and I had NO CAMERA.:slap: I had spent the day removing the tranny and gettin the motor ready to pull. Had a visit from Brian and Gord for about 1hr.(at 2:00 pm) Gord pu his stainless flexline for the rearend.Any whoo it was about 6 :15pm and I was headin home when walla, there was this big bumper, 4door comet,tan in color, parked in a driveway. I called brian and told him,and he said another 1 for the NMCC family. I turned around and found a place to park. Walked up to the the car and a young guy about 14 sticks his head around corner and I asked if the owner of the car was available to talk to . He said yes and disappeared into the house. A few seconds later out comes this young(about 20 my guess) lady and says, can she help me. I said yes and we talk about this car for a good 20 minutes. This car is from Alberta,26,484 orig miles. 6cyl,C4, 4wheel drums. She has owned it for 4 yrs but her dad and her had to do the brakes on all 4 corners, new exhaust, tune-up, altern, battery and timing.She talked about doin the brakes, with her dads help. Same as doin the exhaust. She did all the work and he supervised. She talked like she had been arouind cars for 10 yrs.God it was so nice to talk to a young person who loved her car and it was not a ricer.She just praised her car and said she loves to drive it anywhere. I left her my number and I mentioned a couple of Mav,comet get togethers that might happen this year and she said she will bring her car to my show on July 22. I will drop in once in awhile to let her know off all the cruise-ins around this area.:clap: Well I guess I should carry a camera now:?: |

| Ya know something. It is easier to imagine and accept that one of use old farts :?: would go out , search , find and buy one of these beloved memories from our past glory days. But when the youth of today goes out and finds an interest in vehicles from our past and on top of that has the passion for these cars of long ago well that's just mind blowing. Just think about it, this girl probably (19-23) like so many her age would usually go out and buy Honda , Toyota or something like that .But this girl prefers to Cruise around a piece of our history :clap: .Hats off to this this lady.:thumbsup: | |||

If you get a chance to get a picture of this Maverick Ron, please post it. I do think that it's great that she is so young and likes these cars too. She would make a great addition to the Maverick Comet meet and greet and our other get together's also. By the way your show on July 22, is that the Hooter's show? |

Yup its the Hooters SHOW/SHINE.Lots cars.Lots good food. Lots door prizes.Chainsaw carver(in wood). Trophys for best in show ,picked by hooters staff.Prizes for all kids who participate in the Hola-Hoop,skipping rope, and dance sessions with the hooters girls. Yup the Hooters girls will be doin a LIMBO contest too.Bring out the WHOLE family.TONS Fun. SEEYA THERE. Ron |
