I just bumped onto this video by random chance. Started the video and nearly the first thing i see is a Comet race car (1/4 mile car?) all tubbed up. I have seen this car before in pictures on the interwebs.

Ok I didn't catch the "nearly" part.. the first thing I saw was butts. :P That car is pretty cool. I recall a discussion about this car, but I can't remember where it was.

Sure would be nice to have the Comet and the Pinto in your garage. Than have to decide which one to race with.

Ok the Comet and the Pinto along with 2 Mustangs a 68&69 were run out of Sandy Elliot performance center also a Ford dealership in Chatham Ontario Can. Drivers Barrie Poole and John Elliot were known as the "Border Bandits".They made a habit of going to the U.S and cleaning up at national events and taking the trophys back across the border. I don't know much about the Pinto but the Comet ran a 429 SCJ (with the shock towers in place) i actually seen the car run a few years ago at Toronto Motorsports park. I have spoke to Barrie Poole he is a very nice guy and still racing today.Anyway i have a pile of pics heres some enjoy...

My first car was going to be a pinto, from Delhi. Some guy had shoe-horned a cleveland in it and was running 11's at Cayuga with it. I asked to take it for a test drive and all he said was when I have the cash in my hand, you can drive it all you want. 2 days later a buddy drove up in what was to be, my first Comet.

Damn Derek, that is great. All those pictures, i feel like i just went to drag racing 101. That Comet looks so good with the massive meats on the back of it. My favorite picture is the black and white one with the Comet hanging out with the Mustangs and all those trophy's.

Nope. It was a dark green 71 Comet Gt with a 3 speed on the floor. It also had a 2 tone green interior of which I have never seen another like that one.
