Today i went for a nice Comet cruise with my 10 year old son. Today Oct 13th is a special day for me as today is the day that my beloved dear old Grandfather passed away exactly 14 years ago, way back in 1997. My Grandfather was a World War II D-Day veteran who i was and am very proud of. After he died i wanted to be able to remember him on that day so as he passed away down in New Brunswick i could not obviously travel down there every year so i decided that a nice long drive to a place called the Forks of the Credit North of Mississauga would do the trick as it kinda looks like the beautiful forests of New Brunswick in the Autumn. Now every year on the 13th of Oct i get (bail:p) my son William out of school early and we do the Grandpa cruise. I tell him about his great Grandfather as he never met him. I think the whole D-Day World War II thing is very important for him and really for everyone to know about and remember!
We put on the old New Brunswick "tunes" tape, grab a couple of Pop Shoppe cream soda's (yep they still make them here), hop in the Comet and do the Grandpa cruise. I really look forward to this every year. Half way through the cruise we stop for some ice cream at this little ice cream shop then have supper at Pizza Hut. This is my 14th year and Willy's 6th year for the cruise.
I know it my sound a little bit odd but i really do miss the old boy and it's now a way to spend some really cool time with my son William.
By a way, here is a really cool picture of my Grandfather just after the war:
To me ...... the coolest guy on earth.
Here's a couple of pictures from our tour:
Always cherish the ones you love while they are still here........seriously!!!!
