On my way back from a car show and photo shoot a little while back (no calendar photos with my Comet) my front tire decided to pack it in big time. It scared the hell out of me as i have not had a flat tire in maybe 21 years or so. This sucker really had an epic failure. Take a look: The odd thing is that the other side of the tire is fine,........ dirty but fine. It's a strange feeling when the old tire shreds and your front end drops. |

I guess when they do get a bit older change them and not be cheap like me and try to run 'em one more year. Where i was changing the tire is a bit of a fast moving road but lucky for me it was fairly empty as it was a Sunday afternoon, besides i nearly emptied my trunk and put the stuff on the road at least 5 car lengths behind the Comet. I figured the drivers will try to avoid all the debris on the road, if they some how manage to miss the jacked up Comet. |

That's pretty scary, Carey. You really should use lug nuts on those wheels. :-P I've never blown a tire on a car either, and in the Maverick I was always afraid it would result in an ugly wreck. Glad nothing else happened when it blew. It's nice and shredded. |
