Damn that looks good. I'm not a green paint type of guy but that green looks great. That old Ford truck is a mile long man, post some pictures when it's done. What a nice truck to have along side your Comet or Maverick.

I remember having one just like that on the usedcar lot at the dealership (even the same color). I used it a few times and I think I drove over a curb each time. :)

Interesting that it has the location for the rear cab fill gas tank as well as two in the bed.

I believe Ford stopped using in-cab fuel tanks around '75 or '76, so maybe it is an earlier cab on a '79 frame.

I've wanted a 73-79 crew cab for years, there's only one around here and its a 3/4 ton short bed 4x4, they were before they're time, I thought they dropped the in cab tank in 73 with the new body, I know the 74 that I owned didnt have it and my current 75 doesnt either.

I was thinking they still used that in-cab tank on the step sides for a couple more years into the new style body, but I may be wrong.

The truck is a 79 was a 2wd converted to a 4x4 with a 77 front frame clip and used a 75 divorced transfer case. The in cab tank was added by the owner came out of a 77 it has a dump box so it was just easyier than building a fuel neck to work with the dump. The color is the factory 79 ford dark jade mettalic.

Thats awesome. I have real soft spot for that era Ford truck. We had many. Our last one was a 79 the same color. That Green looks nice polished up in the sun. I think we had more 78-79 trucks than I did MAvericks. I miss my 79 Bronco most of all and so does the wife. It was like driving an armored truck down the road.
